Pavel Marozau is an economist and political activist from Belarus who has worked for numerous projects such as "Arts against Dictatorship" and supported the opposition presidential candidate Aleksandr Kozulin's campaign in the 2006 Belarusian elections. As the coordinator of the independent non-governmental organization 'Third Way Belarus', Mr. Marozau had to flee the country in 2007 for posting satirical cartoons of President Lukashenko. "Defamation of the President" is punishable by up to five years imprisonment in Belarus. Knowing the extent to which Belarusian courts are arbitrary and realizing the regime's desire to crush his initiative, Mr. Marozau sought asylum in Estonia from where he continues his political struggle against the Belarusian dictatorship.
