Taghi Rahmani is a journalist, author, and political activist who has spent more that a third of his life in Iranian prisons. He has been arrested and imprisoned for his writings about religious modernization and his political activities five times, in 1981, 1986, 2001, 2003, and 2009. In 2011, Rahmani fled Iran and immigrated to France, where he now lives in exile.
Rahmani is married to Narges Mohammadi, another prominent Iranian human rights activist. Mohammadi is currently under imprisonment in Iran after being recently handed a 16-year sentence.
